Stayed at the "great" guesthouse in "lovely" Gion. The air-conditioned room was "cozy" and the staff were "friendly". Had a "pleasant" stay.
Oh, those "steep steps"! Absolutely loved struggling with my luggage.

Amazing value for money in the heart of the city. The hostel had a great atmosphere, with a communal kitchen where guests could prepare their own meals. The free coffee and tea were a nice touch. The bed was spacious and comfortable, with curtains for privacy. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect, within walking distance of Higashiyama and the bus stop for Arashiyama.
The hostel had some strict rules, like no check-in before 3 pm and no cooking after a certain time. The lack of shared items like milk and oils in the kitchen was inconvenient.

We had the most amazing stay at Gion Kyoto Miyagawacyo Guesthouse Hanakanzashi. the location couldn't have been more perfect, right in the heart of Gion surrounded by restaurants, shops, temples, and even the chance to spot geishas. the traditional and quiet house with its beautiful wood construction added to the charm of our stay. the cleaning employee who lived there was so kind and helpful, making us feel welcome. Although we didn't meet the owners, the check-in and out process was smooth, with clear instructions provided. We enjoyed the independence and spaciousness of the hostel, with everything we needed nearby. Cons: There was nothing I didn't like about Gion Kyoto Miyagawacyo Guesthouse Hanakanzashi. Everything exceeded our expectations. 😊.

The rooms in Gion Kyoto Miyagawacyo Guesthouse Hanakanzashi are cozy and comfortable, with a shared bathroom that has a shower and a hairdryer. The bed linen and slippers provided made me feel right at home. Some units even have a balcony, allowing you to enjoy the view! As a light sleeper, I appreciated the rooms with air conditioning for a good night's sleep.
Personally, I found having a shared bathroom to be a slight inconvenience.

At Gion Kyoto Miyagawacyo Guesthouse, the shared kitchen is a lifesaver for those of us with culinary dreams and limited skills. I must admit, my attempts at cooking resembled a scene from a slapstick comedy, but thankfully the well-equipped kitchen came to the rescue. From my disastrous attempts at sushi-making to my rather ambitious tempura adventure, the shared kitchen saved my taste buds from disaster!
Toilets and sinks need improvement.

I got amazing value for my money at this guesthouse! The room was clean, spacious, and the bed was super comfortable. The location was perfect, within walking distance to many attractions and public transportation. The staff treated me like family, allowing me to store my bags before and after check-in, and even helped me find a quieter bed so I could sleep better.
Breakfast choices could be improved.

Close to famous temples and a museum, how cultural! The airport is not too far either. The guesthouse has air-conditioned rooms, so no need to sweat it out in the hot Kyoto weather.
Just a small detail, no lift. My poor feet!

AMAZING GUESTHOUSE @ AMAZING LOCATION!!! I stayed for 12 nights. It's built in the traditional wooden style with contemporary, intimate interiors. The staff is amazing - supremely helpful, prompt, genuinely caring, and warm. The beds are big and there's enough space to store your stuff. The place is very clean and well-equipped. It's extremely convenient to get to anywhere, and most traditional attractions are easily walkable. Towels, locker padlock available.
Can't recommend highly enough this hotel.
